“The richest people in the world look for and build networks, everyone else looks for work.” – Robert Kiyosaki

2017 is the year that Dreamscape Kitchens has joined the world of business networking. Since January this year we are proud members of WIBN (Women In Business Network) and Yeovil Chamber. The former is a women only lunch group that meets once a month at Yeovil Court Hotel where everyone has one minute to present their business, followed by a delicious lunch. At each meeting, two business owners are chosen to present their business in more depth for five minutes. The other networking group is Yeovil Chamber; ¬†they meet every other month for breakfast, it’s a smaller group, held at Yeovil Gulf Club with each person getting three minutes to pitch their business, leaving plenty of time for mingling. Having dipped into everything else over the years (advertising, magazine spreads, radio, fayres, social media, leaflet distribution, PR work, TV even), we were keen to try a new way to raise our profile and build our reputation.

It seems that networking is the way forward to expand business nowadays. The motto goes: it’s not what you know, but who you know. There’s no point in having a fabulous skill if nobody knows about it.

There are many advantages to joining a networking group as we are learning and appreciating along the way. It’s probably one of the fastest ways to generate new leads which means new clients = more business. Happy days! It can open doors that otherwise would never present themselves. So-and-so may know so-and-so who knows another so-and-so. You get the drift. Every person you connect with has their own network which can be tapped into. The more people you talk to, the more possibilities lie ahead. It’s also refreshing to talk to other entrepreneurs who most probably encounter similar successes and struggles. We all need support and encouragement. It’s also about being visible so attending a group once in a while isn’t really going to work, you have to show up regularly for people to get to know you, your face and your business. It’s a great support system and members are welcoming and friendly.

We are certainly feeling positive about this new endeavour and look forward to a year of gaining new connections, clients and colleagues…
